About Finance

The Finance Department manages the fiscal and financial affairs of the City in a prudent and effective manner. It provides accurate, timely and comprehensive financial information to the City Administrator, City Board of Directors, other City departments and the general public, and maintains the financial health and stability of the City.

Responsibilities

The Finance Department is responsible for providing the financial management of all City funds and maintaining the fiscal integrity of the City. Major activities include:

  • Comprehensive financial analysis and reporting
  • Managing the City's investment portfolio
  • Managing the City's debt
  • Payroll processing and reporting
  • Preparing and monitoring the budget
  • Purchasing
  • Revenue management, including general and miscellaneous billing

The Department’s records are examined annually by an independent accounting firm. The audit is a part of the annual comprehensive financial report that is available on-line. The annual budget is also available on this site.

The City's finance department consistently receives national awards for its excellence in budget presentation and financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers' Association of the United States and Canada.

The Finance Department contains two programs: Finance Administration and Purchasing.
