City Administration Office
The City Administrator acts as Fort Smith’s chief executive officer, overseeing the work of its staff and its day-to-day operations. Administration office staff also provide direct support to the Board of Directors.
The District Court of Sebastian County, Arkansas, Fort Smith Division provides prompt, courteous, accessible services dedicated to ensuring equal justice in the resolution of criminal prosecutions, traffic charges, civil matters, and other court-related services of district court jurisdiction.

The Human Resources Department processes personnel applications; manages the employee insurance and workers' compensation benefit plans and risk management programs; manages and provides training and safety programs; and coordinates civil service policy and administration.
The Department of Information and Technology Services implements technology to improve the efficiency and quality of services the city provides its citizens.
The Internal Audit Department provides the Board of Directors and the City Administrator with independent analysis, appraisals, and recommendations concerning the adequacy and effectiveness of the City’s systems of internal control and the quality of performance of management in carrying out assigned responsibilities.
The Fort Smith Parks and Recreation Department provides maintenance services to approximately 686 acres of Park land in the city of Fort Smith. There are 20 miles of paved multi-use trails throughout Fort Smith parks. The Parks Department also oversees and maintains Oak Cemetery.
The Planning and Zoning Department manages City land-use ordinances and provides professional services and advice to the Board of Directors, Planning Commission, committees, and other City divisions involved in development review.
The Purchasing Department is a division of the Finance Administration. The primary function of the Purchasing Department is to engage in the procurement of goods, materials and services in a timely, efficient, and effective manner, and at the best possible price.
The Streets & Traffic Control Department is responsible for the repair and maintenance of City streets and drainage systems, traffic signals, street signage, existing sidewalks, and oversees the construction of new sidewalks.
