The City of Fort Smith Department of Solid Waste Services’ landfill is a regional landfill that accepts debris from select counties in Arkansas and Oklahoma. Every year, on average, the landfill accepts 240,000 tons for disposal in an environmentally-friendly manner.
We Accept Debris from the Following Counties:

- Sebastian
- Crawford
- Franklin
- Logan
- Scott
- Washington (NEW in July 2023)
- Oklahoma
- LeFlore
- Sequoyah

Scale House Rates
- Standard Pickup, Car, SUV: $23.42 per load
- All other vehicles and pickups, cars, or SUVs pulling a trailer: $44.02 (includes taxes and fees) per ton (2,000 pounds) with a $20.00 minimum fee
1/2 Price Saturday for Fort Smith Residents
The first Saturday of each month City of Fort Smith Residents who pay a monthly sanitation fee on their residential utility account will receive a discounted rate on debris brought to the landfill in a standard size pickup truck, car, or SUV. Utility account will be confirmed to be active and in "good-standing" at scale house the day of.
The scale house rate is $12.47 per load.
NOTE: vehicles pulling trailers or those other than listed above do not qualify for this discount.
The City of Fort Smith landfill is a regional landfill. All household waste generated by residents of these counties can be disposed of at the City of Fort Smith Department of Sanitation with payment of appropriate fees.
