Depending on the application, processing can take anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks.
How much does it cost for my business license?
Answer:
The first year is free to new business owners in the City of Fort Smith. Your annual renewal is $100.00 for typical business licenses. Food Truck renewals are $150.00 annually.
What should I do if my information Changes?
Answer:
If any of the information on your license changes, you should contact our office at businesslicense@fortsmithar.gov and notify us of the change immediately. Each business license is tied to the specific location and business owner, therefore, if either of those changes are occurring you may be required to reapply for a new business license.
Do I need a Business License if my business is located outside of Fort Smith?
Answer:
Yes, if you are operating with the city of Fort Smith you will need a City of Fort Smith business license.
How do I renew my business license?
Answer:
You should receive a renewal notice in the mail the month before your expiration date. The renewal notice should be reviewed for accuracy and mailed back to PO Box 1908 Fort Smith, AR 72902 with the business license renewal fee.
What if I have not received a renewal notice?
Answer:
If you have not received a renewal notice please contact our office at businesslicense@fortsmithar.gov or call 479-784-2299 or 479-784-2228 for spanish to request a copy of our renewal notice.
What if my business is closing?
Answer:
If your business is closing please send an email to our business license team at businesslicense@fortsmithar.gov stating the closure of the business and the business license number associated.
