The City of Fort Smith receives and responds to requests under the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act (AFOIA). All requests are handled by city administration. 

Submit a FOIA Request

Existing public records or documents can be made available for inspection as soon as city administration contacts the custodian of the record (e.g. the specific department that holds the record). Requested records can be reproduced in hard copy for 25 cents per page or may be provided in digital format. The preferred media for fulfilling requests is by electronic copy via email, or if the file size or document list requires, the digital files can be put on CD, DVD, or a USB drive. In many cases, citizens may prefer to simply inspect the documents where they are stored and earmark which, if any, digital or paper copies they wish to take with them.
