Maggie Rice is the Deputy City Administrator, a role she has served in since September 2024. 

Maggie was born and raised in Fort Smith. Following the completion of her Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, she chose to return to her hometown and begin her career with the City of Fort Smith. She has worked for the Fort Smith Planning Department for 17 years and has been the Director of Development for the past four years. She’s a graduate of the 2009 Leadership Fort Smith class. In 2013, she was recognized by the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal as a rising, young professional “40 under 40” honoree.   

She is proud to serve on the Community Advisory Board for Baptist Health, as a mentor at Darby Middle School, and as a Girl Scout troop leader. Previously, she’s served on the Leadership Fort Smith Alumni Board and as President of Young Emerging Leaders.  

Maggie enjoys spending time with her husband and four young children and has a passion for running, reading, baking, and drinking coffee.
