Why does a fire truck come when I call for an ambulance?
All fire apparatus are BLS (Basic Life Support) equipped and carry at least one EMT to respond to certain medical calls. At times, all ambulances may be busy with other medical calls or may be farther away, therefore a fire truck is also dispatched to get there faster and begin patient care.
Can the Fire Department come unlock my car if I leave my keys inside?
The fire department will only unlock and open a vehicle if there is an immediate life threat to an individual or pet inside the vehicle.

How do I obtain a copy of an Incident Report?
Contact the Fire Department at 479-783-4052 or stop by the Administration office at 200 N. 5th, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Reports can typically be available three business days after your request.
Are Fireworks legal to use in the City?
The use of any fireworks within the city limits is prohibited.
Can I burn inside the city limits?
Open burning is prohibited by ordinance within the City of Fort Smith. However, the use of outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, chimneys or other fire structures used for recreational purposes is allowed under provisions located on the Fire Ordinances page.
