Move With The Mayor

Mayor George B. McGill is joining more than sixty other mayors in a nationwide initiative to reduce heart disease and stroke, the nation’s No. 1 killer, by encouraging residents to get up and get moving.

Move with the MayorTM, a partnership between the City of Fort Smith and the National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention, encourages residents to join the Mayor in city-wide physical activity challenges.

Seventy-one million Americans do not get enough physical activity in their daily lives, and that increases their risk for heart disease and stroke and by getting up, getting out, and walking more — perhaps from one meeting to another or other ways in their daily lives — a person can reduce his or her risk and have a longer, more active life.

Mayor George B. McGill agrees and says his goal is to motivate Fort Smith residents to walk or move to improve their cardiovascular health.

National Fitness Campaign

The City of Fort Smith and the National Fitness Campaign have partnered together again to bring a second outdoor fitness court to our community. This new project is set to feature the work of a local artist and will be constructed near the Riverfront Bike and Skate park bringing free access to fitness equipment to the downtown area.
