The City of Fort Smith conducts plumbing inspections for compliance to the Arkansas Plumbing Code as amended by local ordinance (see code of ordinances). The plumbing inspection program pertains to all plumbing within the city as well as the area south of Fort Smith where the city is the water supplier. City Ordinance #96-05 requires that all plumbing in the “transfer area” must be inspected by a Fort Smith plumbing inspector for compliance to the Arkansas Plumbing Code.
