 IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Recycling and Yard Waste Collection is now serviced EVERY WEEK along with Trash.

Each Fort Smith single-family homes up to a 4-plex are provided one city-owned trash cart at no costs. Residents are encouraged to use trash bags inside the carts to promote cleanliness.

Carts should be placed at curbside by 7 a.m. on the morning of your trash collection day. Carts need to have a minimum of three (3) feet of space on all sides, so the mechanical truck arm can grab the can. The trash cart must not be blocked by vehicles, objects, overhanging tree limbs or power lines.

Do not overfill or place items on top of the trash cart, as this will cause items to spill out onto the curb. Call to get an additional trash cart. Note: if you are not recycling you can get a recycle cart at no costs, plus you will be helping the environment by putting less trash in the landfill.

Do not put hazardous waste, yard waste, or dead animals in your trash cart. Other items not accepted are concrete, rocks, large pieces of metal, dirt, or construction debris.

A utility assistance program established by the City of Fort Smith to provide relief to low-income customers who use utility services solely for residential purposes. More information on this program can be found here.

Prevent Neighborhood Litter

To help prevent litter in your neighborhood, please bag or wrap all loose trash material before placing it in your bin. This will also help your bins from getting smelly.

Set Your Bins Out The Night Before

In order to best ensure your trash and recycling will be picked up on the day of collection, pull your bins to the curb the night before.

Separate Recyclables from Trash

There are many day-to-day items that can be recycled rather than thrown away. Please place recyclable objects in the recycling bins to help reduce waste quantities.
