Recycling & Yard Waste Schedule
Residents can receive only one yard waste cart per household at no cost.
In an effort to decrease our reliance on single-use plastic The Solid Waste Services Department recommends the following:
- Use paper bags instead of plastic. Paper bags can go directly into the composting process. All yard waste placed in plastic bags must be debagged before the contents can enter the composting process.
- Use a 32-gallon bin purchased for your local home improvement store. You can also request a city-issued 96 gallon yard waste can from the city free of charge.
- Mulch your leaves and yard waste back into your yard using your lawnmower.
Yard Waste Guidelines
1) Yard Waste Materials Include:
- Leaves
- Grass trimmings
- Flowers
- Limbs & branches
2) Branches are to be up to 4 feet in length and NOT be more than 3 inches in diameter.
3) Yard Waste must be kept either bagged or loose in a 32 gallon or 96 gallon cart with the lid closed.
- If yard waste cart is unavailable, ALL branches and limbs should be bundled and tied with string; Leaves need to be bagged. Do NOT exceed 18 inches in diameter and 50 pounds.
4) Carts, bags and bundles need to be placed at the curb leaving 3 feet between other carts and objects.
- Carts and bags should NOT exceed more than 50 pounds.
Brush Service Collection
Solid Waste Services also provides a bulk brush/limbs collection service where bagging and bundling is not feasible for a one-time fee, that can be added to your utility bill. If there is a storm that blows through and it takes down a tree, residents can call (479) 784-2350 and we will come to give you an estimate on how much it costs to pick it up. The charge is per each time we show up to pick up debris. NOTE: Brush/Limbs MUST be at curb.
- 0-10 cubic yards = $60 flat fee + taxes
- 11-20 cubic yards = $120 flat fee + taxes
- Greater than 20 cubic yards = $180 flat fee + taxes
- (limited to the capacity of a single truck load)
This service is not for commercial tree trimmers or landscapers, just for residents who are doing it themselves.
